Make Up Institute is one of the leading make-up schools in Europe. students from all over Europe and Scandinavien coming here to be educated to Master make-up artist & hair stylist. The school is locataed in Stockholm, Sweden.

Make Up Institute can organize accomadation to students who is not from Stockholm if needed (limited places).

The education plan has been created from the experience of the world leaders make-up artists. It prepares the students for the tough demands required in the professional sphere.

We recommends that the students are practicing on models. The reason for that is that the students are training on a lot of different face structures. Finding a model for practice is not a problem but in case you cannot find yourself, we have a registry of models, which you can book for the lessons, free of charge. It is meant that you as a student will have the chance to practice on as many different face structures as possible during the course.

The number of student accepted at the education is limited. There is a teacher for 5-6 students, this way everyone gets the help and attention that is needed. We work hard and effectively for up to 20 weeks. Our goal is that you should become the best make-up artist there is. Make-up institute training makes you a professional hair & make-up artist.

Two big influences on the quality of the education we provide, are how many teachers are present at lessons, and the geneous floor space at the school. Make Up Institutes total floor space is about 3 000 square feet. This includes a photography studio with rented photographers provided for our students.

PORTFOLIO
During the last week of the education the students take their final exam. During one week the students will makeup and style 4-5 models. A photographer will shoot 80-100 digital pictures, which the students can implement in their personal presentation. Moreover, the students will get a professional portfolio. This so called “workbook” is the makeup artist presentation in potential job interviews.

MAKE UP AS A PROFESSION
Most of the information we get today comes from visual sources, for example TV, commercials, newspapers, fashion magazines. edia and commercials have increased in the last few years thanks to the development of commercial TV-channels, which means more work and more opportunities for the makeup artists. Make up as a profession is divided into different sections and this makes our profession more flexible.

BASIC MAKE UP
This category includes natural makeup, party makeup and bride makeup. Another area is medical makeup to cover scares, burns etc.

MAKE UP FOR FASHION AND PHOTOGRAPHY
When it comes to photography the makeup artists’ purpose is to bring forward the models natural beauty and suit the makeup and styling, but also to give the photography the right touch. Makeup for fashion and photography could be everything from basic makeup to dramatic and sophisticated makeup.
If you are especially interested in fashion and photography, you can work with fashion photographers, designers, model agencies, advertising agencies, journalists etc…

THEATRE AND STAGE MAKE UP
Theatre and stage makeup is being used in theatre shows, ballet and at the opera. The makeup artists’ fantasy and skills are used to create the desired character. In this category body- and clown makeup can be used. You could work with producers, directors, theatres and operas.

MAKE UP AND ADVISORY FOR COSMETIC COMPANIES
When working as a representative for a cosmetic company, all the categories of beauty make up can be used and should be mastered. Demonstration and advisory for the stores clients, different representations and as a part of professional fairs is a part of the make up artists work.

FILM AND SPECIAL EFFECTS
The film industrial is always young, dynamic and full of challenges. The film industry takes the makeup artist into a fantasy world with characters from the past, present and the future. The makeup artist task is helping the actor/actress get into his or her character. The makeup could be basic makeup, wounds, burns, scares, becoming antiquated, and all that during working side by side with the glamorous Hollywood stars.
